Girdwood Community Land Trust

Creating community resources for Girdwood

What is a C.L.T?

A community land trust (CLT) is a nonprofit corporation that holds land on behalf of a place-based community, while serving as the long-term steward for affordable housing, community gardens, civic buildings, commercial spaces and other community assets on behalf of a community.

Mission: To manage land for community and economic development needs, with the intent of preserving affordability, in trust for the benefit of Girdwood.

In practice, the organization works to acquire land for critical community-serving real estate needs. Once achieved, GCLT stewards the assets in trust to ensure that they remain affordable for future generations. Working towards innovative shared-equity ownership structures that balance the needs of individuals and families, as well as the surrounding community at large.

We foster leadership with an engaged board of residents and community members to enact a vision of resident-controlled development on community-owned land.

Help us protect affordability and preserve Girdwood land for future generations.
